American Wigeon (Mareca americana)

HABITAT - In the summer, the American Wigeon breeds mainly across northern North America and Alaska and winters throughout much of the United States, Mexico and Central America.
DIET - Unlike many ducks, American Wigeons are quite fond of vegetation. They eat aquatic plants, grasses and other vegetation, along with seeds and some aquatic invertebrates.
FACTS - They will sometimes graze on land like geese. They may also associate with Canada Geese and feed on vegetation disturbed by them.
